BrightStar Names JD Sun Executive Vice President of Franchise Development
November 17, 2010
BrightStar Franchising, LLC, a full-service healthcare staffing agency that provides medical and non-medical homecare to private clients within their homes, as well as supplemental healthcare staff to corporate clients, announces the appointment of JD Sun as Executive Vice President of Franchise Development.
Sun, who co-founded BrightStar with his wife, Shelly, and most recently played an integral role building sales in company-owned markets, launching franchise sales efforts and leading the company’s rebranding efforts to drive franchisee performance, will now lead BrightStar’s domestic franchise development efforts.
“I am excited about the opportunity for our owners to have JD in this role, as it was under his lead that many of our processes and relationships within the franchising community began to develop and evolve,” said Shelly Sun. “I keep hearing how it’s somewhat like Steve Jobs coming back to Apple – one of the co-founders getting back to the heart and soul to lead our efforts in providing outstanding business opportunities.”
In 2002, after JD’s grandmother fell ill and they could not find an agency to provide the quality of care and service that she deserved, Shelly and JD were inspired to create BrightStar Care. BrightStar Care is a full-service healthcare staffing agency that provides the full continuum of care in the home, and supplemental staffing for corporate clients such as hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors offices. In August 2005, they launched BrightStar’s franchising efforts, becoming the first franchising company in the United States to specialize in both medical and non-medical care and healthcare staffing.
“With the incredible talent and dedication already in place on the corporate level, I am confident we will continue to improve upon our effectiveness in identifying outstanding candidates to join our amazing family of BrightStar owners,” JD said, noting the company’s plans for having more than 600 territories sold by the end of 2013.
Today, BrightStar is one of the fastest growing companies in the multi-billion dollar healthcare industry, having grown from one company-owned store to over 170 locations in 34 states, with approximately 130 additional franchises already committed for.
